Dr. Tirthankar Ghosal

Dr. Tirthankar Ghosal is a scientist with the National Centre for Computational Sciences at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, United States. Prior to that, he was the Head of Research (NLP/ML) at SciSpace, Palo Alto, California and PrediiLabs, Palo Alto, US. His research focuses on the automated discovery of scholarly knowledge using NLP and Machine Learning techniques in scientific literature. His current work includes developing Large Language Models for Science in collaboration with NASA/ADS and UniverseTBD. Tirthankar did his PhD at IIT Patna. After that, he did his PostDoc at Charles University in the Czech Republic where he led the development of the Automatic Minuting module of the EU Horizon 2020 project ELITR. Tirthankar has been chairing and organizing workshops, conferences, and shared tasks in NLP/ML and advising startups on Generative AI. Tirthankar is passionate about DEI causes and, has been a chair of WiNLP *CL conferences, and is currently an EquiCL board member.
