Dr. Somnath Mukhopadhay

Somnath Mukhopadhyay is currently an Assistant Professor in the Dept of Computer Science & Engineering, at Assam University Silchar, India. He is a former Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Applications, Sikkim University, Gangtok, India. He completed his M. Tech. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Kalyani, India, in 2011 and 2015, respectively.

He has co-authored one book and more than ten edited books to his credit. Some of the titles are "Advances in Intelligent Computing", "Algorithms in Machine Learning Paradigms", "Methodologies and Application Issues of Contemporary Computing Framework", "Multi-Objective Optimization: Evolutionary to Hybrid Framework" and "Handbook of Research on Natural Computing for Optimization Problems" with some reputed publication venues. He also worked for several journals as a guest editor such as "Innovations in Systems and Software Engineering, Springer", "SN Computer Science, Springer", "International Journal of Advanced Intelligence Paradigms, InderScience", "International Journal of Ambient Computing and Intelligence, IGI Global", etc.

He has published over 30 papers in various international journals and conference proceedings, as well as six chapters in edited volumes. His research interests include Digital Image Processing, Soft Computing, Optimization Algorithms, and Hyperspectral Image Processing.

He is a Senior member of IEEE, a Fellow of IETE, an Execom member of IEEE CIS Kolkata, a member of IEEE Young Professionals, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society; a life member of the Computer Society of India; and a former regional student coordinator (RSC) of Region II, Computer Society of India.
